MYTHS AND FACTS

FACT: The International Criminal Court can prosecute state and non state actors. Hamas has committed war crimes and its leadership must be held to account. See AGPI's letter calling for the ICC to issue arrest warrants for Hamas leaders. 

FACT: Hamas has been a designated "terrorist entity" in Canada, America and the European Union. Any reference otherwise to whitewash its terror activity is denial and distortion of the truth. 

FACT: The humanitarian crisis was caused by Hamas when it decided to brutally murder 1,400 Israelis.  It new Israel would defend itself and did not put Gaza's citizens ahead of its quest to destroy Israel. Over the years, rather than build schools, hospitals, businesses and social welfare, Hamas used international aid money to build tunnels and rockets. Israel is asking Palestinians to move out of harms way in order to protect civilian life. 

FACT: Israel's Defence Forces is the most moral and ethical military in the world. It regularly risks its own soldier's lives to defend civilians. It informs civilian populations before attacking by dropping leaflets, sending texts and even making calls.  Its main objective is to abide by international laws of war in order to protect civilians. 

FACT: The Islamic State of Iran is behind every terrorist organization operating in the region including Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis in Yemen. Iran uses these organizations as proxies against Israel. It funds and arms them, trains them and provides intelligence and logistical support. Iran has said it wants to "wipe Israel off the map" and is developing nuclear weapons. By Far, it is the most dangerous country on earth. 

FACT: Nothing could be further from the truth. For nearly 30 years, Israelis have yearned for peace with the Palestinians. They have wanted a two state solution, with the Palestinians living peacefully alongside Israel. Sadly, Palestinian incitement continued unabated. Israelis and Jews around the world want Palestinians to live peacefully. 

FACT: Through independent investigation, both the USA and Canada have now declared that Israel was not responsible. In fact, a recording by Hamas proves the errant rocket was fired by Islamic Jihad at Israel. The rocket fell short on the hospital unfortunately killing some 100 Palestinians. 

FACT: In 2005, Israel removed its own citizens from Gaza to allow the Palestinians independence to build their own state. Israel has not been in Gaza since then. Unfortunately, Hamas took over Gaza and established a terrorist state, sending in suicide bombers, firing rockets at Israel and digging tunnels to infiltrate Israel. Israel had little choice but to protect its border with Gaza as a result. 

FACT: From ancient times, the Jewish people are indigenous to the land of Israel.  Very few people dispute that fact. But if you do, just look for the thousands of artifacts on the ground (Jerusalem) that prove the Jews have lived on the land for more than 3,500.

FACT:   The organized Jewish community is in solidarity with the State of Israel. A few dissidents giving interviews to local media do not represent Jewish consensus. 

FACT: There was never a State of Palestine.  Before Israel's modern independence in 1948, the land was ruled by Britain from WWI. Prior to that, it was ruled by the Ottoman Empire for nearly 500 years and numerous other occupiers prior. A State of Palestine had never existed. Conversely, the Jewish people established themselves on this land more than 3,500 years ago. 

FACT: Hamas' Charter and founding mission statement calls for the eradication of the Jewish State. It wants to destroy Israel and create an Islamic caliphate on the land of Israel.

FACT: Hamas could not care less about the 2 million citizens of Gaza. It has been inculcating children to hate. It has run terrorist camps. It uses its own citizens as human shields. The citizens of Gaza need to be freed from Hamas.

FACT: Nothing could be further from the truth. The history of the Jewish people on the land of Israel is well documented. There are also ancient Jewish buildings, artifacts and documents that prove Jewish presence. Jews are indigenous to the land, just as much, for example, as the First Nations peoples of Canada and the U.S.!

FACT: This slanderous false statement was created in 2001 in Durban South Africa by the pro-Palestinian movement. Israel is a free and democratic nation and while imperfect (like all other nations) grants all its citizens with equal rights. Under international law, this the practice of apartheid is criminal and would allow for boycotts and sanctions against a state with the objective of its destruction.  This is the objective of the Palestinian movement. 

FACT: Israel's detractors have tried to cover up their Antisemitism by saying they are Anti-Zionist - or Anti-Israel. In fact, being Anti-Zionist means they are anti-Jewish right to their home land. While all other peoples have a right to fulfill their national aspiration, only the Jewish people (who are indigenous to the land) are disadvantaged. This invalidation is Antisemitic. 

FACT: In fact, the pro-Palestinian movement has co-opted the legitimacy of academia to further their cause by promoting Anti-Israel sentiment and campaign for boycotts. They even created the now discredited "Israeli apartheid week" to build hate against Israel. They have mislead generations of students and co-opted faculty to buy into their Antisemitic campaigns.  

FACT: Unfortunately, depending on the media source, the media often buys into the Palestinian narrative. One example is its immediate citing of Hamas sources regarding the errant Palestinian rocket that hit the hospital in Gaza. For credible Israel news, we recommend AGPI's news page or Times of Israel or the Jerusalem Post. 

FACT: Pro-Hamas/Palestinian demonstrators shout, "from the river to the sea Palestine will be free". What they imply is that from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean sea, the land will be free of Jews. In other words, this is a call for genocide and the destruction of the State of Israel.
